The painter "brings his body," said Valery. And, indeed, we do not see how a spirit could paint. It is lending his body to the world that the artist changes the world into paintings. Merleau-Ponty, in L’Œil et l’Esprit 1960 My project is to carry a work, one of an another artist, and to bring it in Bordeaux. A document (drawing, text, painting, map, photograph, ...) will be reproduced on a T-shirt that I'll wear. The proposed space is limited but it is my property, it is independent and moving. I'm not a curator. For my part, this is not a work of an artist, but work as an artist. The body is moving every day, it's free. The work proposed by the artist is often renewed. On this formative space that is the T-shirt, the work is visible "for real", "in itself", and also supported by my conversation on the work presented. It will be seen only (by people I meet) physically. The T-shirts remain the property of the artists, and it is offered to each of them at the end of the event. |
